Cellular Therapy and The Myths Around It
Regenerative medicine’s advanced field, cellular therapy has the potential to cure many illnesses. However, several misconceptions are surrounding it. As a person researching on regenerative medicine, my aim is to shatter these myths and bring out the truth about Cellular therapy.
MYTH 1: ONE SIZE FITS ALL – MYTH
The most common belief is that any disease can be cured through cellular therapy. Cell-based therapies are more effective in some diseases than others depending on the type of illness involved, health status of the patient and cells used during this process. It is important to have realistic expectations that cell-based therapies do not completely replace traditional treatment options but rather complement them.
REALITY: NOT A MIRACLE CURE BUT PROMISING
There are encouraging results in areas like certain cancers, autoimmune conditions or orthopedic injuries among others through cellular therapies; however, there still exists need for further research as well as clinical trials.
MYTH 2: INSTANT FIX – MYTH
It is commonly believed that one can see immediate results from cellular therapy; however, this belief may lead to disappointment and distrust in relation to treatment course. In reality, healing resulting from cellular therapy takes time. This means that it can take weeks or months for the body to regenerate and heal itself appropriately.
REALITY: BE PATIENT
In most cases therapeutic effects of stem cell procedures tends to come by increments over a long period of time. Therefore patients should be advised accordingly after their post treatment sessions by their healthcare providers who will also help them follow up another session occasionally.
MYTH 3: CELLS THERAPIES ARE THE SAME- MYTH
Most people believe that all types of cells used for treatments are identical which is nothing but a wrong assumption since there are different kinds such as stem cells or platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment among others. Each procedure has a particular purpose and different levels of effectiveness depending on the nature of the disease being treated.
REALITY: DIVERGENT METHODS FOR DISTINCTIVE REQUIREMENTS
For optimum outcomes, it is important that a qualified healthcare professional carries out adequate evaluation in order to ascertain which type of cell therapy suits their patient’s condition most effectively.
CONCLUSION
The potentials and limitations must be understood for cellular therapy; it is an encouraging aspect for advancing medical treatments. Clarifying facts while discarding myths will enable patients as well as their care givers have better understanding of what is happening around them in this field.
